Is Monogamy Destroying Your Health?

Could this eight letter word be destroying your chances of losing weight, toning muscle and keeping the weight off? For many this just might be the case.

When it comes to creating a healthier you, you’ll hear the smart fitness professionals mention it’s about embracing a healthy lifestyle rather than a particular diet or exercise routine.  What exactly does this mean? Diets and these fad exercise programs don’t work! They’re too hard, not realistic and/or sustainable!

Yet so many get caught up with the idea that this one diet program, exercise program or machine is the key to your weight loss issues. It doesn’t happen overnight and it won’t be corrected overnight either.

What’s the solution then? The solution is lifestyle modification. Changing little everyday habits which when combined help you lose weight, tone muscle and keep it off without even thinking about it. That’s embracing a healthy lifestyle. Changing the small habits to get a big change over time.

When it comes to your fitness routine, variety is the spice of life!

As a certified fitness trainer, I love fitness and staying active which includes a multitude of activities.

  • Rock climbing
  • Hiking Stone Mountain
  • Weight lifting
  • Playing kickball every Saturday at 1:00pm in Bessie Brenham Park in Atlanta
  • Running
  • Cycling
  • And more!

Do I do this all in one day, one week or even one month? No. I have a multitude of activities I do along with a proper nutrition to keep things interesting and overall fun.

At CrossFit Pittsburgh we offer a variety of fitness & wellness classes, but each of our classes are designed for a particular purpose along the road to a healthy lifestyle.  Some classes are primarily for toning and firming muscle, some classes are designed to teach proper nutrition, some classes are primarily for weight loss and maintenance.

The point is no one activity does it all or is sufficient by itself. And if there was would you want to do the same thing over and over for the rest of your life? Some people love sushi, but give them sushi for breakfast, lunch and dinner 365 days of the year and let’s see how pumped they’ll be about sushi then.

Remember when it comes to your fitness routine, don’t be monogamous, polygamy is the key to a healthy lifestyle.
